Elle 18 Eye Sparkler in Purple Pataka, Green Grenade, Blue Blast and Gun Metal – Review, Swatch

Hi friends,

I am reviewing the Elle 18 Eye Sparklers in four colors. I always get curious about the Elle 18 cosmetics. I have used couple of their nail paints and eyeliners before and they were decent. I saw this eye sparklers pencils and they immediately reminded me of the jumbo pencils. These looked very cute and as they retailed just for Rs.85/- I grabbed one in all the shades.

These come in a chubby pencil form with a transparent cap. Though the plastic of the cap feels flimsy, it is quite travel friendly.

The product is decently pigmented, creamy and glides on well.

They did not work when I used them to line my eyes. They are not long staying and they melt. When used as a cream eye shadow, again, they did not fare well. They creased, disappeared unevenly and were no good.

I was little disappointed. But then the idea struck. I tried using them as an eye shadow base. Trust me it surprised me in this department. It brought out eye shadow’s color very well and helped in increasing the staying power of the eye shadows. It did not crease at all.

It is a very cheap alternative for girls who are new to eye makeup and doesn't want to splurge on costly eye shadow bases. As they are colored, obviously you cannot use them with all the eye shadows. But when paired appropriately, they work very well.

Swatches:

As Eye shadow base.. I used the eye-shadows from my oriflame palette.

Likes:

1. Dirt cheap.
2. Good color pay off.
3. Acts as a decent eye shadow base.
4. Creamy.
5. Easily available.
6. Does not crease if used as a base.

Dislikes:

1. Not impressive when used alone.
2. Creases and melts if used alone.

Maniac’s rating:
As a pencil – 2/5.
As an eye shadow base – 4/5.

Considering the price I think these are really great as a base. Though I will not repurchase as I have them in all the colors, I do recommend these to those who are looking for a pocket friendly base to play with colors.

Hope you girls found the review useful.

Love,
