OMVED Restorative Shampoo - Review

Hello Friends,

I have a thing for hair care products that are free from parabens, sulphates and silicones. Not that I am very choosy. But I love the effect they have in my hair. My hair has normal to dry texture with a very dry scalp. During sweaty summers, my scalp gets itchy and this gets further aggravated by me washing it every alternate day (this cannot be avoided in summers). During those times, I do suffer from mild dandruff. I normally use drug store brands which are richly infused with silicones to give that soft and shiny hair, but after a couple of months, my hair loses its natural waves and starts falling flat.

At this juncture of chaos, I got the OMVED Restorative Shampoo in my hands. I was skeptical in trying it out especially when I was having all sorts of irritation on my scalp. But the No parabens, sulphates and silicone claim made me try it. Read on to know about how it fared in my hair.

About the brand:

Almost everything you put on your hair gets on your scalp and what gets on your scalp can get absorbed into your body! Warm water and open pores during a hair wash make it imperative to use natural haircare products. Omved shampoos are the result of diligent manufacturing, sound traditional Ayurvedic wisdom and rare and effective premium quality botanicals, rich in vital hair nutrients and natural hair conditioning agents that take utmost care of your hair in a very gentle way.

They do not contain any harsh chemicals for foaming or conditioning and cleanse without stripping the outer protein layer of hair or drying the scalp. Protect your hair from harsh ingredients, synthetic additives and overpowering synthetic aromas.

We think you’ll love what it does for your hair.

My Experience
Packing:

The shampoo comes in an opaque plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. The plastic bottle has this metallic feel to it. The bottle does not feel heavy or bulky. As it is opaque, the quantity of product left is difficult to determine. The pump feels very tight. I had to literally fight with it every time to get the product out. It dispenses the right amount of product.

Product Texture & Fragrance:

Thee shampoo is a very mild, transparent and runny liquid. It smells like Tea tree oil but in a very mild and soothing way. I love the fragrance. The smell lingers in the hair for quite a long time but not as intense as the way we feel it while shampooing.

Performance:

I am impressed by the ingredients list. It is almost like a shikakai powder in a shampoo form.

The shampoo lathers moderately and does the job of cleansing very well. But when we use it after an oil treatment, it requires two washes to completely remove the oil.

During my first wash, I skipped the conditioner. It cleansed the hair well and my hair felt very alive. I was happy to note that my hair was having its old bounce and it did not fall flat as it used to be. My scalp did not get itchy or irritated even after spending the day travelling. My hair was not getting tangled as it used to be when I skip the conditioner. Though this shampoo did not strip moisture from my hair totally, my hair did feel a little dry as I skipped the conditioner.

After a couple of washes, I started noticing less and less hair in my washroom drain. I was so surprised by this. My scalp felt healthier than ever and I did not experience any sort of irritation. Now, after using it for almost a month that too in every alternate day, I am very happy to say that the dandruff which I used to get in this season was nowhere to be seen. My hair and scalp are feeling very healthy. Hair fall is very much reduced. Nowadays when I brush my hair, I notice very little or no hair fall. Usually I will be getting strands after strands and my mother used to mock me telling that my brush has more hair than my head.

I felt that this product required more water to get rinsed off completely. I have had this issue earlier with another sulphate free shampoo as well. Guess it is because of the ingredients.

Maniac’s Rating: 4/5

This is definitely one of the best shampoos available in the market which are free from sulphates, silicones and parabens. Do try it if you have an angry scalp. I have not listed the price as a con. Given the fact that this shampoo actually does what it claims, I think it is worth the price.

You can buy this product online from here. They pack the products well too.

I know this is a lengthy review. I wanted to cover my entire experience. Thank you for putting up. Hope you girls found my review useful.
