Today I am going to review one of the famous lipsticks from MAC – MAC Creamsheen Crosswires. I went to the MAC store to check out some coral lippies and while swatching, I fell in love with this shade. Perfect would be the word to define the color. It was bright but not too bright.
Price: INR. 990/-
Color: MAC describes crosswires as "creamy pinky orange". It is a beautiful soft coral color that has peachy/reddish orange undertones which are visible under certain lighting. Though it is not a pure coral, it is a perfect shade for girls who are used to neutral lip colors and wish to experiment. It has negligible shimmer that adds to the sheen.
Texture & Pigmentation: It is a creamsheen lipstick and the texture is smooth. It is not a heavily pigmented and required two-three swipes to become completely opaque. As I don’t have any pigmentation issues, I like to wear it in one swipe.
The lipstick settles into fine lines and clings on to the dry/scaly skin on the lips. Hence moisturized lips are mandatory. It does not bleed unless we layer it up like there is no tomorrow. Due to the shimmer, it imparts a gorgeous healthy sheen and makes the lips look healthy.
I am not a fan of shimmer. However mild it is. But the combination of mild sheen + this coral color is a winner for me.
Staying Power: It stays on my lips for 4-5 hours with light drinks in between. I am not sure if this would survive full meals due to its texture. It loses the vigor of its sheen after 2-3 hours and then the color starts fading slowly.
Fragrance & packing: This is from MAC’s permanent line and has the signature black bullet packing and vanilla fragrance.
Swatches under different Lighting:
1. Gorgeous color.
2. Decent pigmentation.
3. Decent Staying power.
4. Imparts a beautiful sheen.
1. Not too kind on dry lips.
On my Lips:
Maniac’s Rating: 4/5. (-1 is for not being dry lips friendly)
Must have if you are not a fan of in-your-face bright lipsticks but still wish to add color to your face. Flatters medium to fair skin tones.
Some Useful Info: If you want a drugstore alternative for this color, you can check out Maybelline lipsticks. Both the moisture extreme and colorsensational range. A little birdie says Moisture Extreme lipstick in the shade D160 is a close dupe. You can check out Maybelline’s range of lipsticks here at Myntra.com or Purplle.com or here at Jabong.com.
Hope you girls loved my review.
