Maybelline Dream Lumi Touche Highlighting Concealer - REVIEW & SWATCH

Hi,

I don’t have any severe dark circles as such and wanted a light product that can brighten up the area without being too much. So a highlighting concealer was a perfect choice. I went to the shop and swatched the colorbar one. It looked too shimmery and I settled on this one from Maybelline.

 REVIEW

Packing: It comes in a marker type packing where you need to twist the lower barrel to release the product on the brush. I love this concept as it is non-messy and can be tossed around without causing any spillage.

However this packaging is not free from any cons. The barrel needs to be twisted multiple times initially (6-10 times) to release the product for the first use. After which, the product is supposed to come through the brush after one twist. But unfortunately in my case, I am forced to twist it more than once and in turn a big glob of product comes out. I don’t know if it is just me or it happens with others as well. Again, due to the packing, you cannot put the excess back in. *Wastage Alert*

Shade: I got the shade ivory. As I will be using this only for my under eye area, though the shade is lighter, it fits the bill perfectly.

Texture: The texture is runny-creamy. It is not thick and hence does not give a heavy feeling. I felt the inglot concealers (refills) to be little heavy. It is easy to blend and sets to a semi-matte finish. The brush aids in precise application especially when you try to apply it in the inner corners.

Concealing and highlighting abilities: It is NOT a heavy duty concealer or a heavy duty highlighter. It is something in between. It conceals light darkness and mild dis colourations well. It is buildable to a medium coverage. The shimmers are very subtle and not obvious. But it does the job of brightening the under eye area very well. It normally does not crease but during those excessively sweaty days, it settles in the fine lines under my eyes. It is not a long staying product (stays for 4 – 5 hours in Chennai climate) and comes off with a wet wipe.

Though they have claimed that it can be used to conceal the blemishes in face, I am not happy with it because, it not only conceals the area but also brightens it.

I love to use it as a brow bone highlighter for day time minimal make up. It does not look OTT and enhances the brows very well.

Though I would not call it a must have product, I am happy with my purchase. It is good for brightening up the under eye area and highlighting the brow bone. Good for girls having minimal dark circles.

I may not repurchase this as I would love to try the colorbar one.

Maniac’s Rating: 3.5/5. (Nothing impressive but worth a try)

Hope you girls found my review useful.
