Olay Regenerist Advanced Anti-aging Night Firming Cream - REVIEW

For the past one year I have started to take care of my skin. By taking care I mean not going to bed with makeup on, using a consistent and good quality face wash, having a mild clean up at home using scrub and pack every week and using a night cream.

I am 24 and I read that it is the right age to start using a night cream so that the youthful radiance and suppleness of the skin is retained for a longer time. As I wanted to invest in a good night cream, I did my own research, asked my friends etc and finally zeroed on the brand olay on shweta’s suggestion. She is my beauty - fairy and always helps me in getting the best.

I went to the shop, browsed the products and brought home the Olay Regenerist Night Firming cream. I read online that this cream has great moisturising abilities and for my dry skin, moisture is very essential.

Price: Rs. 1,199/- for 50 g.

Packing: This cream comes in a grey glass like pot with a metallic elephant grey lid. The pot comes encased in a sturdy black carton box. Though many may find that the pot packing is unhygienic etc I personally love it. It forms a pretty sight at the dressing table.

Color: Light almost white bluish purple. I don’t know why but the color reminds me of poison. Yeah I am weird.

Fragrance: The fragrance is like that of medicinal syrup but, not very overwhelming. It is like a pleasant version of medicinal smell.

Ingredients: (source)

water cyclopentasiloxane, glycerin, polyethylene, niacinamide, dimethicone crosspolymer, dimethicone, stearyl dimethicone, butylene glycol, panthenol, propylene glycol, peg-10 dimethicone crosspolymer, petrolatum, sucrose polycottonseedate, tocopheryl acetate, bis-peg/ppg-14/14 dimethicone, benzyl alcohol, peg-10 dimethicone, cetyl ricinoleate, fragrance, allantoin, ethylparaben, propylparaben, disodium edta, peg-100 stearate, arnica montana flower extract, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) extract, camellia sinensis leaf extract, betaine palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, sodium pca, proline, sorbitol, serine, glycine, glutamic acid, lysine, alanine, arginine, threonine, ci 16035, ci 42090.

Texture: Now comes the best part. The cream is so smooth and feels like velvet on the skin. It gives a luxurious feel when I apply it. Coming to product application, I required only a tiny – a litter more than pea size amount for my face and neck. It spreads easily and gives a smooth feel akin to the feeling when we apply a primer on.

Other info: It is little heavier than normal day creams as it is designed for night use. It takes 2-3 minutes to sink in and initially, on application, it gave a mild tingling sensation around my nose which neutralises once the cream gets absorbed. Before I go on with how it fared on my skin, I feel the need to share the condition of my skin during those days. I had excessively dry and flaky skin around my nose and on my cheeks; I had frequent bouts of acne and acne scars. My skin looked life less and dull. During the initial few days, I woke to a fresher and healthier looking face. After about a month of continuous use, my skin no longer had those dry patches and started looking hydrated.

Now after almost 7-8 months of use, I can definitely say that my skin got better. Though I still get my occasional hormonal acne, the overall texture of my skin has improved noticeably. My skin is no longer dry and scaly. The pores on my skin are no longer obvious. I used to have dry and dark skin in the area beneath my lips and above my chin. Now it is no longer dark. I so wish I had a photograph taken.

As I cannot comment on its ability to firm the skin and reduce the fine lines, I also made my mum use it. Her face looks bright and she those tiny little lines that made her face look dull are minimized. Her skin feels smooth and looks healthy.

Let me stop gushing about it here and move on with the pros and cons

  1.  Texture of the cream is very luxurious.
  2.  Spreads and gets absorbed easily.
  3. Does not have a bothering fragrance.
  4. Makes skin look healthier and helps with pigmentation issues.
  5. Very good for girls with dry skin – Moisturises well without making the skin oily.
  6. Works on fine lines and tones up the face.
  7. Helps with open pores.
  8. Restores the “glow” and removes dullness.
  9. Easily Available.
  10. Only small quantity is required so in that way it is pocket friendly.
  1. The packing feels heavy and you need to sanitize your hands every time you take some product out.

Some useful Info – Let’s learn a little more about the ingredients. (Source)
Propylene Glycol - A moisture carrying ingredient that works by absorbing water from the air. It penetrates the upper layers of the skin well and leaves skin feeling silky and soft.
Niacinamide - Also called vitamin B3, niacin, and nicotinic acid, this water-soluble ingredient has been shown to prevent skin from losing water content, as well as to stimulate circulation in the skin. Recent studies have shown that it also improves the appearance of wrinkles, skin discolorations and reduces redness and improves skin elasticity.
Dimethicone - Type of silicone that feels like silk on the skin, even when skin is wet. It is also used for improving the appearance of scars.
Petrolatum -Also known as petroleum jelly, topical application helps the skin's outer layer recover from damage, reduces inflammation and heals dry skin.
Allantoin - Found in the comfrey root, allantoin is a bacteria inhibitor that helps soothe and reduce inflammation.

Maniac’s Rating – 5/5.

Dry skinned ladies must give it a try. I am sure you would fall in love with this product and as a result, you would fall in love with your skin too. J I will definitely repurchase. I am already looking forward to try its day cream too.

You can buy it from Flipkart.com here and from purplle.com here

Hope you girls found my review useful.
