Coastal Scents Sunless Body Art in Medium - Review & Swatch

Hello girls,

When I first heard about bronzers, I thought them to be synonymous with tanners and was like oh it is not for me (I have every single opportunity to look overly tanned living here in Chennai). So I never bothered to give them a try.

One day I saw my friend, who is medium toned like me. Her face looked exceptionally healthy and her skin glowed like she was taking very good care of them. I complimented her and she gave me the secret to her glowing skin – bronzers. Only then it dawned to me that bronzers are used to fake a healthy natural looking sun kissed glow to the skin and they don’t just “tan” you.

Couple of days later, I saw some bronzers up for sale by Parul and grabbed them. One is from Revlon and the other one which I am reviewing here is from coastal scents. It is called the sunless body art and they come in three shades meant for fair, medium and dark skin tones. I have the medium one here.

About the product & directions to use.

Add an instant sun-kissed look to fair, medium or darker skin tones with our Sunless Body Art Light.

Step 1: Clean and moisturize skin where you wish to apply your bronzer. Wait at least five minutes for the moisturizer to absorb prior to proceeding.

Step 2: Swirl brush into powder and tap bottle of the handle to distribute powder into the fibers. If needed, tap the side of the handle on a disposable cloth to remove any excess powder.

Step 3:
Apply bronzer to face, décolleté, or body using a gentle, circular motion.

Step 4:
Repeat until you achieve your desired shade.

Step 5:
A soft cloth can be used to tone-down and remove any excess color upon completion, by applying light and even pressure.

It comes in a compact/pressed powder form with a transparent lid. The ingredients and other info are mentioned in the brown pan. The lid shuts tight and is good for travel.

It is medium bronze brown in color with golden shimmer. The shimmer looks more evident in the swatch and more sheen like on my skin when dusted.

It is not very loosely packed in the pan so product wastage does not occur when I pick some up with the brush.

It gives a nice warm glow to the skin. Skin looks very healthy and it does not look artificial. It blends well with the natural skin tone, does not look streaky and looks very pretty. I dab it on my hair line and on my cheeks to get that sun kissed glow on those dull days.

I have not tried contouring with it as it is shimmery and, for the same reason it does emphasize open pores if you do not prime your face well.

Staying power is pretty decent and does not have any bothering fragrance.

Overall, I am very happy with this bronzer. I checked the Coastal Scents website and found that it retails for $ 7.95/- excluding shipping (at today’s rate INR. 494/-) which is pretty good considering the quality. But when we include the shipping cost along with the troubles associated with the international shipping, it will not be economical unless you order it along with couple of other goodies.
