I am reviewing one of the famous MAC lip stick – MAC Amorous.
It is from their satin finish range and this was suggested to me when I asked for a nice winter lipstick that does not look too vampy on my skin tone.
It comes in the sleek black bullet like all the MAC lipsticks from their permanent range and is priced at INR.990/-.
Though MAC describes the color as lovestruck cranberry, it looks more of a clone between cranberry and mauve on my lips. The lipstick carries the signature vanilla fragrance.
It is from their satin finish range. It is creamier enough to glide smoothly on lips and does not bleed. The bullet is stiff/strong enough to withstand Chennai summers without melting. It does not accentuate dry lips per se but prepping lips with lip balm is recommended in winters.
The color is very versatile. One swipe results in mauvish pink shade that looks gorgeous for day time. Two to three swipes kind of deepens the color and it starts looking borderline vampy on my lips. It emphasizes the yellow undertone I have. It looks more mauvish in deeper skin tone and gorgeously vampier on fairer ones. The color is intense enough to cover pigmentation in a single swipe.
The lipstick survives light snacks and stays put for 5 hours after which, the intensity of the color starts diminishing leaving a gorgeous tint. Though it does not transfer like glosses or creamy lipsticks it does transfer mildly to tea cups etc.
This is how it looks on my lips when applied with a light hand. The picture was taken after 3 hours of wear time. I did not have any snacks.
I love this lipstick and it looks and wears wonderfully in winters but unfortunately this particular one is not “my” kind of shade. Apart from that I have no qualms in the staying power or quality department. I just love the finish.
Maniac’s rating: 4/5.
This lipstick is highly recommended if you like to wear such type of shades.
