I have heard a lot about the benefits of body butters over body lotions on dry skin. I have extremely dry skin and the body lotions which I apply vanish within a few hours of application leaving my skin dry as before.
So the first thought that came to my mind about buying body butters is to get one from The Body Shop. But then I stumbled upon this product on MedPlusbeauty.com which was at a lesser price compared to that of TBS.
I asked my friend Rajalakshmi whether this brand is good and her first reaction was "Yes it is very good. But is it available in India?" Now what you will do when you get such a response from a beauty expert? Yes I too did the same. I immediately checked out the product.
Within two days, after placing the order the parcel reached me.The body butter comes in a lavender colored plastic jar with a screw cap. It doesn't come with any spatula to apply the product so I had to use my hand digging my fingers into the product.
The body butter is a white thick creamy substance which is very soft on the skin. However, one thing I didn't like is the fragrance. My colleague commented after seeing this that it smells like coconut burfi.
But it's not a natural fragrance and it irritates my nose very much. I completely hate its fragrance or rather, smell. It has an artificial fragrance which is like that of coconut cream mixed with some medicines. I wonder what made them write those words about it’s fragrance!
Price: INR.629 for 300ml.
What the company says: Treat yourself to some pampering indulgence with this deliciously decadent body butter for silky soft skin.
Usage Instructions: For best results, massage onto damp skin after showering or bathing.
The ingredients list is printed on the jar. The date of expiry is mentioned on separate sticker pasted on the jar but the manufacturing date is not mentioned. Only the date of import is mentioned on the sticker.
However, the shelf life is mentioned as 12 months on the jar.
I was so curious that I opened it and applied a little bit of it on my arm. I was so surprised to see how well it moisturized my skin.
Also, the effect stayed on till I took a shower in the evening after reaching home from office. That means at least 5-6 hours. Now I wanted to try it in the night also to see how long the actual results last.
I applied the product on my arms and legs before I went to sleep and when I got up in the morning I was surprised to see that my skin felt soft and supple unlike the way it used to be when I apply my body lotions.
I was so impressed with this product that I started using it two times a day all over my body after morning and evening showers. One thing I noticed about it is that, it spreads smoothly and blends well when the skin is damp. On dry skin I ended up using more products and had to massage really well to get it blended properly. My skin looks well moisturized always once I started using this product. I love it!
