I am posting a skin care review after what it seemed like ages. When I first heard about The Body Shop – Tea Tree Range, I was so thrilled. They had so many good reviews and all. I have used diluted tea tree oil as spot treatment once and loved the way it gave instant results.
I got the face wash and cream among which I have reviewed the cream already here and today I will be reviewing the face wash.
Packing: Comes in a transparent plastic bottle. As the bottle is huge it won’t be travel friendly but the flip cap shuts tight.
Price: INR. 695/- for 250 ml.
This daily-use facial wash for blemished skin gives clearer-looking skin when used as part of a regular regime.
• Removes excess oil without over-drying skin
• Helps remove impurities
• Clinically proven to give clearer-looking skin
Fragrance: Soothing Tea Tree oil fragrance. I love the fragrance very much.
Color/Texture: It is a transparent green tinted liquid with a runny consistency.
Did it work?
As I told you earlier, I got the cream and wash together and I wanted to be very careful and test if my skin liked this. My Skin was combination during that time and felt oily in the T-zone. The cream worked well as a spot treatment and I got the courage to try the face wash.
It lathers moderately and cleanses the skin extremely well. It was so extreme that it mistook my little moisturization for oil and ripped it off completely. It was SO drying. Even for my oily T-zone.
My skin started acting up. I started getting huge painful acne and the skin around my T-Zone got red, dry and flaky. This happened just after the second wash. I washed my face at night for the first use and applied generous amount of night cream so that any dry-spells (if any) could be thwarted. BUT, when I woke, I found my zits quite apparent and I thought it is just making the life of the zit shorter and gave it another try and it resulted in all those drama.
I went to a doc only to know that my skin is sensitive and I am NOT supposed to use any potent ingredient like Tea Tree Oil. It took almost two weeks for my skin to be normal.
So, if you have sensitive skin, please don’t try this face wash.
Now whenever I hear the word tea tree, all I remember is the pain I went through and the half-baked advices women gave.
I won’t give this product any rating. Just know your skin before using potent ingredients like tea tree extracts.
That said, I have seen lot of my friends rave this product. They don't find it harsh at all. If you have super oily and not so sensitive skin, do give this a try.
I am using it as a brush cleanser now to just finish it off.
